Soft Tissue techniques are used during treatment to reduce muscle adhesion, scar tissue and reestablish
normal muscle and joint function. Dr. Lotufo uses Active Release Technique (ART), Post Isometric
Relaxation (PIR) and a variety of joint mobilizations and muscle stretching techniques that have been
extremely effective in her treatments. Chiropractic Adjustments when in conjunction with Soft Tissue
Techniques has a improved effect in correcting faulty movement patterns, joint dysfunction and pain.
ART is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system that allows the practitioner to diagnose and treat problems with soft tissue injuries. Soft tissue refers primarily to muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements. These treatment protocols - over 500 specific moves - are unique to ART. They allow providers to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient.

In acute conditions in conjunction with chiropractic treatment therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, electro stimulation and soft tissue techniques may also be used to promote quick pain relief and to decrease inflammation.
Once your condition begins to improve I will show you what things are important for maintenance. This may involve prescription of exercises such as "core stability training" and yoga-based flexibility exercises as well as nutritional counseling and whole foods organic supplementation.
Chiropractic care benefits all aspects of your body's ability to be healthy. This is accomplished by working with the nervous system--the communication system between your brain and body. Doctors of Chiropractic work to correct spinal, pelvic and cranial misalignments (subluxations). When misaligned, these structures create an imbalance in surrounding muscles and ligaments. Additionally, the resulting nerve system stress may affect the body's ability to function optimally. Sacral misalignment causes the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments. It is these tense muscles and ligaments and their constraining effect on the uterus which prevents the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for birth. The Webster Technique is defined as a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces interference to the nerve system and facilitates biomechanical balance in pelvic structures, muscles and ligaments.
